The FCCB invites researches to organize different types of meetings:

  • Long sessions (two- and three-week sessions)
The philosophy of the Center encourages two- and three-week long sessions designed to foster individual work and collaborations among senior members of the scientific community. The ideal number of participants is around 60. Long sessions can be held in the period June 1 - September 30.
  • Short events
Worshops and short schools. The number of participants can go up to 150. Short events can be held either in the period January 1 - May 31 or October 1 - December 31.

Long sessions can be held during the period June 1 - September 30.

The FCCB offers the following help to scientific organizers:

  • Facilities
    • Desk space and blackboards.
    • A computer room. 8 PCs are linked to a local node which also handles notebook connections and internet access. Participants have a private computing account during their stay. TeX and Mathematica are installed in all (linux) computers.
    • Two seminar rooms. Blackboards, overhead projectors and beamer.
    • Secretariat. Fax, telephone, Xerox.
    • Organized bus Barcelona-Benasque-Barcelona.
  • Administration
    • Web page support including automatic registration (which is requested for all participants).
    • Handling of hotel and apartment reservations.
    • Local support: system manager, secretariat.
  • Financial support from FCCB
    • Infrastructure expenses.
    • Scientific organizers expenses.
    • A total of 9000 Euros to cover invitations of relevant researchers.

Scientific organizers proposing the organization of a session should:

  • Select carefully the topic of the session on scientific grounds.
  • Coordinate dates to avoid overlapping with relevant schools and workshops (Les Houches, Aspen, relevant annual meetings, ...).
  • Contact and secure participation of key researchers in the field.
  • Apply for grants (ESF, EU, NATO, university grants,...) in order to co-fund the session. Depending on availability of these extra funds, an allowance for every participant can be offered.

A one-page proposal should then be sent to
