Mission
The Pedro Pascual Benasque Center for Science operates as an advanced summer research institute located at the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees. The aim of the Center is to offer an agreeable atmosphere for postdocs and senior researchers to meet and carry their work during the summer. The Center is financially supported by Iberdrola S.A., Ayuntamiento de Benasque, Diputación General de Aragón, Diputación Provincial de Huesca, Universitat de Barcelona and Universidad de Zaragoza. Basically, the Center runs on a proposed topic. Discussion groups and talks are organized by two scientific advisors and by the participants themselves. The center is designed to attract around 60 researchers. Upon request, some collaborating teams are accepted. The Center offers some basic infrastructure. We make available a set of computer facilities including e-mail, telnet, ftp, http, Tex, Mathematica and a printer. Participants are encouraged to bring their own notebooks. A fax service is set up to obtain any printed paper on demand from the University of Barcelona. The organization helps participants in finding accommodation. Depending on the generosity of institutions and private companies a small housing allowance may be offered to those researchers staying for the whole period of a workshop. Further questions can be mailed to benasque@ecm.ub.es or at the fax number +34-93 4021241.
