2nd Autumn School on Soft Condensed Matter

Organizers:

A. Lasanta (UGR - Ceuta), A. Fernandez-Nieves (UB - ICREA)

The goal of this Second Autumn School on Soft Condensed Matter is to introduce young students and researchers to key themes in some of the areas of the Soft Matter Spanish community. Additionally, we aim to promote interactions between participants among this community. The School is just before the Spanish Soft Matter 1 1/2 Day. The speakers are recognized researchers in their field, and will give a pedagogical view of the current state of the art of their areas. The Second Autumn School will cover four themes:

   - Prof. Victor Martín-Mayor (Universidad Complutense de Madrid): A gentle introduction to the Renormalization Group analysis of continuous phase transitions.
   - Prof. Pablo I. Hurtado Fernández (Universidad de Granada): Dynamical phase transitions and dynamical symmetry breaking in the fluctuations of driven many-body systems.
   - Prof. Antoni Planes (Universidad de Barcelona): Phase transitions in magnetic and related systems.
   - Prof. Enrique Lomba (CSIC): Hyperuniformity: the hidden order of disordered matter.

There will be a poster session so that participants can present their work.

Benasque is a beautiful mountain village located 1140m above sea level offering fantastic landscapes, and scenic hikes to the highest peaks in the Pyrenees.

The School will formally start on Monday morning, October 26. Participants and lecturers can take the bus service from either Barcelona airport or University of Barcelona at Diagonal, and arrive on Sunday, October 25.
The School will end on Wednesday, October 28. A bus returning to Barcelona will depart in the early afternoon of this last day for those participants and lecturers not staying to the Soft Matter 1 1/2 Day.

The School is organized by the Spanish Soft Condensed Matter Network.
