BMRex Meeting - Biocatalytic Membranes for Micro/Nano-Plastic Removal

Organizers:

J. Gurauskis (INMA-CSIC/UNIZAR), S. G. Mitchell (INMA - CSIC / UNIZAR)

BMRex is a European innovation Council Horizon Europe project focussed on developing advanced inorganic membranes functionalised with enzymes and ionic-liquid-based materials to capture and degrade micro- and nano-plastics directly within wastewater streams. By integrating selective filtration, catalytic degradation and anti-biofouling strategies, BMRex aims to enable safe, efficient and sustainable water recycling.

Led by CSIC and involving partners across Europe, the project bridges materials science, biotechnology and environmental engineering. Results and ongoing developments will be featured at the May 2026 Materials Meeting in Benasque.
