The goal of this First Autumn School on Soft Condensed Matter is to introduce young students and researchers to key themes in some of the areas of the Soft Matter Spanish community. Additionally, we aim to promote interactions between participants among this community. The School is just before the Spanish Soft Matter 1 1/2 Day. The speakers are recognized researchers in their field, and will give a pedagogical view of the current state of the art of their areas. The First Autumn School will cover four themes:
- Dr. Petra Bacova: Polymers in Soft Matter: From Structure to Emerging Applications.
- Dr. José María Montanero: Shaping and controlled fragmentation of complex liquids on the submillimeter scale. Stability analysis and some applications
- Dr. Eva González Noya: Phase transitions and self-assembly in soft matter.
- Dr. Iker Zurigel: Emergence of collective behavior in systems of macroscopic particles: from granular matter to pedestrian dynamics.
There will be a poster session so that participants can present their work.
Benasque is a beautiful mountain village located 1140m above sea level offering fantastic landscapes, and scenic hikes to the highest peaks in the Pyrenees.
The School will formally start on Friday morning, October 31. Participants and lecturers can take advantage of the bus service from either Barcelona airport or University of Barcelona at Diagonal, and arrive on Thursday, Oct 30.
The School will end on Sunday, November 2. A bus returning to Barcelona will depart in the early afternoon of this last day for those participants and lecturers not staying to the Soft Matter 1 1/2 Day.
The School is organized by the Spanish Soft Condensed Matter Network.
