QCD and String Theory

2006, July 2 -- July 14

Dialogue, by Natalija Krisciuniene

Profs.  J. Barbón   (IFT UAM-CSIC)
             A. Kovner  (U. Connecticut)
             M. Shifman  (U. Minnesota>)

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together a group of international experts from the areas of QCD and string theory, in a relaxed atmosphere conductive to discussion and research collaboration.
The intelectual feedback between these two theoretical areas has been quite remarkable in the last decade. Results from lattice field theory, AdS/CFT, twistor techniques, large N methods, noncommutative geometry, black hole physics, quark-gluon plasma, etc have been the source of extremely interesting overlapping. It is expected that this meeting will contribute to further strengthen such a fruitful communication between the two fields of research.

Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday July 2 and leave on Friday July 14.
A free bus will depart from Barcelona (Universitat de Barcelona, Diagonal 647 ( metro: Palau Reial, green line) at 15.00h with a stop at the airport bays between terminal A and B at 15.30h on July 2. A return bus Benasque to Barcelona airport will depart at 9.00h on July 14. The trip by bus takes 6h. The trip by car only takes 3.5h.

This session has received financial support from the following institutions: BBVA, Ayuntamiento de Benasque, Universitat de Barcelona, Universidad de Zaragoza and CSIC.
